Reindeer Food Freebie

Hello!  Happy almost Friday.  I am short a babysitter tomorrow so I get to take the day off and stay home with my girls!   I don't love doing sub plans, but I was actually excited when my hubby said he couldn't take the day off because of meetings and that I would get to stay home!   I love getting to be home for something besides my girls or myself being sick.

Katie just finished up our reindeer food buddy activity that we are going to be doing with our 5th grade buddies.  This would be a fun activity with just your class or with a buddy class.  Just click on the picture below if you would like to grab it!

Happy almost weekend!!!

I LOVE the weeks leading up to Christmas Break!! (and a freebie)

I absolutely love this time of year!  These 3 weeks leading up to Christmas Break are so incredibly busy and chock full of activities.  Both Katie and I find new books and activities every year and just keep adding them to our stockpile of Christmas fun.  Starting next week I think we have at least one Christmasy activity a day (if not more!!).  We also have both hit the easy button jackpot with our classes this year. In the past we have had kiddos who don't celebrate Christmas so we have had to adapt activities.  This year every one of our kiddos celebrates Christmas.  This makes life REALLY easy as far as holiday fun planning!

Katie is finishing up a really cute buddy activity that we are going to be using with our 5th grade buddies next week and when she is finished with a sample we will post that as a freebie for you.  We also just finished our It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas math centers Here is a freebie of one of the centers for you!  Just click on the first picture to head over and pick it up!

Enjoy!!

It has been awhile and some freebies!

Yikes!  It has been quite awhile since our last post!  I have to hand it to all the bloggers out their in bloggy land who do a blog, tpt store, etc. all by yourself!  There are two of us here and we STILL feel like we can't keep up with life!
So personally life has been a whirlwind for me!  My grandpa has been having some heart trouble for the past 3-4 months on and off.  He has been in and out of the hospital while they have been trying to figure out what works to keep his heart rate from getting too fast or too slow.  All this heart trouble means my grandpa and my aunt (who helps take care of him) can't travel.  This kills them since they are missing out on seeing my girls as much as they would like! So recently while my husband was away for work I packed up my girls and we flew from Kansas to Florida for a REALLY quick visit.  I'm so glad that we went because while we were there my grandpa ended up back in the hospital again!  It was good to be able to be there and visit him with the girls.  I think that that helped cheer him up.  So they FINALLY think that they have figured out a combination of medicine that will help him out and he and my aunt should be able to fly at Thanksgiving.  Yay!!!!!!!

The other thing that has been keeping me from blogging as much as I would like is......

So far my doctor says she is pretty sure it is just one baby, but they thought my girls were just one baby until 5 1/2 months!!!!!  So I am not counting my blessing either way for a little bit yet! :)

On a school note we have been BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!!!!  We are only at school today and Tuesday of this week. Woohoo!!!!  Then after we get back from Thanksgiving break we can start the Christmas break countdown!  What a whirlwind.  The countdown until Christmas break is our favorite because we have SO much stuff that we love to fit in.

If you are still looking for something to do this week with your kiddos here are a couple of class books to go with some of our favorite Thanksgiving books.

The Day After Halloween....

Did anyone else have trouble getting up this morning?  Did you drive to work with more then a little bit of dread??

It has been a LONG day for us!  Our kiddos came in sugared UP!  Both Katie and I were standing in the hallway outside of our rooms greeting our little cherubs as they came in this morning.  Yikes!  When the first few kiddos came tearing around the corner, pushing, shoving, and running full speed we knew it was going to be an interesting day.  Most of the rest of the kiddos came in full tilt, but there were also a few who stayed up WAY too late and d.r.a.g.g.e.d themselves in to the classroom after the late bell had rung.  Apparently some of the houses were giving away sugar iv's instead of packaged candy last night!!!!

Luckily for us we had not gotten through all of our activities earlier in the week so we were able to grab at least a tad bit of their attention today by finishing some Halloween related activities.
We did this cute compound word spider and web match activity from Andrea at Reading Towards the Stars.

In addition to our reading story for the week and our math lesson we also found time to do a Halloween Class Joke Book and a class book for A Job for Wittilda.  It seems that even on the day AFTER Halloween anything Halloween related is still a hit. Our kiddos worked pretty hard to complete what they had to do, so that they could get to the activities that they wanted to do!

Here is also a peek at some of the activities we did in my classroom yesterday!

We did a super fun activity with our 5th grade buddy class.  I LOVED getting to do this, because our currrent 5th grade buddy class has some of my favorite former 2nd graders in it!!  Not to mention that I got to hang out with a fun 5th grade teacher friend who I never get to see! (Our rooms are on opposite sides of the building)  We did a venn diagram with our buddies and then made some frankenstien friends.  Sooooo cute!!!  I bought this unit from Cindy at Granny Goes to School.  You can check it out here if you are interested. It was only $2 and both the 2nd graders and 5th graders loved it!

We also made Spelling Spiders with our spelling words.

I also got to take my own little cuties trick or treating last night.  The hubby and I met up with our good friends to take our kiddos together.  My friend's hubby is a youth pastor so we did the early trick or treating so that he could still get to church early enough to set up!  It was a BLAST!  My friend's little girl is 4 and insisted on pulling my girls in a wagon.  She took them up to each door and made sure each person gave her "little honeybees" candy too!  It was precious!!!!
We laughed ourselves silly because the girls are really into purses right now and thought that their bags were purses.  They were so thrilled that people were putting things into their bags that they went crazy each time!  In the wagon Brylee kept taking her candy out and setting it down in the cupholder.  Each time she went back to dig for more in her bag, Rylan took the candy Brylee had just set down and added it to her own bag!  Hilarious!  Rylan ended up dragging a bag full of candy and Brylee had about 2 pieces!!!Thank goodness that they don't eat candy yet and didn't know the difference!!!  My hubby had out the fancy camera and was snapping pics, but I haven't seen them yet...so in the meantime here are a few blurry camera phone pics of my little honeybees!!

I hope your Halloween was great and that you made it through the dreaded Day After Halloween!
